Because we believe in what we do and take pride in our work, we insist on 100% client referenceability. The following case study illustrates how we assisted a client in her job search. Despite being able to write well, she sought our advice for a number of reasons:
-She hadn’t really enjoyed writing her CV and therefore wasn’t very pleased with the results.
-While leveraging an extensive network, she felt that her resume was letting her down in meetings as it wasn’t specific to the positions being discussed.
-Although the client had a background in wealth management services delivery, she was keen to explore new industries such as fashion or luxury travel.
-She had taken a break from the workforce and wasn’t sure how to address this gap in her work experience.

During our initial 90 minute interview, it became clear that she had omitted significant achievements from her original CV, and as a confident and articulate woman, she needed to lead with a direct and impactful resume. A collaborative decision was made to develop two different CVs, enabling the client to target two different types of positions: client services roles aligned with her professional experience; and right hand/assistant roles to senior executives within the industries that she was keen to explore. The break from work was addressed in the covering letters/emails that accompanied each CV.
This traditional CV promotes the subject as an expert in client services with high-end wealth management firms. The document was designed to: articulate her most relevant skills; highlight her most impressive career achievements; and tell her story in a chronological and consistent manner with descriptions of each company, positions held and most significant accomplishments. While the CV follows a very typical formula, the content jumps out to the reader.

The general CV positions our client as an achiever, someone who gets things done. It focuses on what she did as opposed to where and when she did it. A comment made during our interview inspired a testimonial from a former manager which is included in the profile. It’s not your typical resume, but it’s appropriate for the types of roles and job descriptions that we reviewed during our interview and it will certainly grab the reader’s attention.
